משנה: נִתְמַעֵט הָאוֹכֶל מוֹסִיף וּמְזַכֶּה וְאֵין צָרִיךְ לְהוֹדִיעַ. נִיתְוַסְּפוּ עֲלֵיהֶן מוֹסִיף וּמְזַכֶּה וְצָרִיךְ לְהוֹדִיעַ:

MISHNAH: If the food became less he adds, transfers rights, but does not have to notify. If [dwellers] are added he adds, transfers rights, and has to notify.

HALAKHAH: Paragraph. Why does he notify? By practice. Does this not imply that he does not transfers rights to the food proper? Rebbi Ḥanina said, explain it if rats dragged it away.
