Jerusalem Talmud Demai 7.5

1
English · Heinrich W. Guggenheimer

MISHNAH: If somebody had ṭevel figs in his house but was in the House of Study or on the field, he says: Two figs that I shall separate in the future shall be heave, ten tithe, and nine heave of the tithe. If they were demay, he says: That which I shall separate in the future shall be tithe tomorrow, the rest of tithe near to it. That which I made tithe shall be heave of the tithe for all, and the Second Tithe shall be to the North (or to the South) and be redeemed by coins.

HALAKHAH: What is done? ‘From before I shall separate it.’ Think about it, if it was pure heave, ‘from before I shall eat it.’ Think about it, if it was impure heave, ‘from before I shall deposit it in a corner.’

We have stated: “One may move both pure and impure heave.” Rebbi Zeïra said, it means that one is permitted to move ṭevel that has a condition on it on the Sabbath. What does he do? He thinks about a part of it and eats the rest.
