The moment
Caliph ʿAbd al-Malik's shrine over the rock on Jerusalem's Temple Mount is one of the oldest surviving monuments of Islamic architecture. Its mosaic inscriptions quote the Qur'an on the oneness of God and reject the Trinity and the divinity of Jesus; the link to Muhammad's Night Journey became prominent only centuries later.
