The moment
According to Mexica tradition, their god Huitzilopochtli showed them where to settle with a sign, an eagle on a cactus, and they built an island city in Lake Texcoco. The Templo Mayor at its centre honoured Huitzilopochtli and the rain god Tlaloc.
